The earliest known humans to have arrived in Himachal were Proto-Austroloids ( Munda or Kolarian speaking people). Later, Mongoloids and Aryans came to the region. The people of Indus Valley spread upwards the Gangetic Plains. They formed the groups called dasyus. Rigveda has mention of Kinners, Nagas and Yakshas. Kols are considered to be the earliest inhabitants of Himachal.
