·         A total of six other districts touch the boundary of Mandi District – Kangra from the North, Kullu from the east, Shimla from South-east, Hamirpur & Bilaspur from the west.

Peaks & Mountain Ranges in Mandi
·         Dhauladhar
-          Naagru Peak in the Dhauladhar Mountain Range is the highest peak in Mandi. It is 4400m in altitude from the sea level. It lies towards the east of Mandi
·         Ghoghad Dhar
-          Gumma & Drang salt mines are located here.
-          It starts from Harabaag near Jogindernagar
·         Sinkander Dhar
-          This mountain range/dhar is further divided into Kamladhar and Lindhidhar. It is named after Sikander Lodi who was the Sultan of Delhi 1489 and 1517 AD.
·         Berkot Dhar
-          Starts from Rivalsar and goes till Suket
-          Important rivers in this Dhar include Beas and Satluj

Important Lakes in Mandi

Rivalsar Lake
At  an altitude of 1360 m, it is also known as the lake of floating islands. Another name of this lake is Padmachan. It is 22 kms from the Mandi headquarter. It is an important lake for Buddhists, Hindus & Sikhs. Cheshchu fair is organised in Rivalsar
Parasher lake
It is named after Rishi Parasher who was the son of Shakti Muni. It is at an altitude of 2743 m (approximately 3000 m ) above sea level
Pandoh Lake ( man-made lake )
It is constructed over river Beas. It is 14 kms in length.

Other lakes in Mandi District include – Kumarvah Lake (3150m above sea level), Machiyal Lake(850 m above sea level), Kamrunaag Lake (3200 m above sea level ), Sukhsagar Lake, Khuntbhyog lake, Kaalasar Lake

Important Rivers flowing in Mandi

·         Satluj – It enters Mandi district in Firnu village. The river separates Mandi from Solan and Shimla
·       Beas – It enters Mandi district in Largi. Sainj & Tirthan rivulets merge with Beas here. The various tributaries/rivulets of Beas river include Ulah, Suketi,Son, Bhakar,Janjheli, Ranodi, Luni, Reena
Important Dam in Mandi includes the Pandoh Dam having a height of 76m. It was completed in 1977. The nearest National Highway is NH-21.

·         Shivaratri Fair – It is an international fair held in Mandi. Raja Ajbar Sen started this fair. It is held in Paddal ground in Mandi
·         Cheshchu Fair – It is also known as Mahunaag fair. It is held in Rivalsar and is a State Level Fair. Cheshchu fair is celebrated on 13th April every year.
