Himachal Pradesh History Series - Part 2


1.       Kutlehr State on the border of Kangra and Hoshiarpur was founded by ______ in the eleventh century A.D with its capital at Kot-Kutlehr – Jas Pal
2.       The Bangahal State was founded by a Brahmin in A.D. 1200 in Bir Bangahal with its capital at – Bir
3.       Bilaspur (Kahlur) was founded in about 900 A.D. by a rajput from Chanderi in Bundelkhand. The Naina Devi temple was also built by him. His name was – Bir Chand
4.       Son of Raja Kahan Chand of Kahlur (Bilaspur) – Ajay Chand founded this state in 1100 A.D. which was an offshoot of Bilaspur- Nalagarh
5.       Bhagal and Bhagat , the two states which presently comprise Solan district were founded by two Panwar Rajput brothers – Ajedev and Bijdev respectively
6.       The capital of erstwhile Keonthal State which presently lies in Shimla was ruled by Sen dynasty in the 17th and 20th centuries was – Junga
7.       Rup Sen the scion of the Sen dynasty who was the son of Balbir Sen fled from Bengal at the face of defeat in the hands of Sahabuddin Ghori came to Ropar and built a fort there in – 1210 A.D.
8.       Kishtawar State founded by Hamir Sen, one of the three sons of Rup Sen in 1211 A.D.  presently forms part of – Jammu & Kashmir
9.       The word ‘Junga’ which is derived from the village deity ‘Junga’ was the capital of Keonthal State. The old capital was – Koti
10.   The Junga Palace which still exists in ruined form was built by – Raja Sansar Sen
11.   The Chief of the Keonthal State during the 18th Century was styled as – Rand
12.   12 villages of Keonthal were taken by British Government to form the present hill station of Shimla in exchange of the Rowri Paragana in – 1830
13.   The 78th Raja of Keonthal in descent from Giri Sen is – Raja Hatender Sen
14.   Pathri Mata’ (the Goddess of Stone) and ‘Bhaloo-Ka-Per’ ( the tree of the bear ) are associated with – Keonthal State
15.   Bhajji (Capital – Mool Bhajji) and Koti (Capital - Mool Koti ) located in Una district were founded by Charu and Chand respectively, two brothers who were the sons of – Raja Rampal of Kutlehr
16.    Dhami State is stated to be established by a Chauhan ruler who was the descendent of – Prithvi Raj Chauhan
17.   Hari Chand from Ayodhya founded the state of Mahlog with capital at – Patta
18.   _____ was founded by Surat Chand who came from Rajauri in Jammu Hills – Kuthar
19.   Bhaj Deo from Hills founded – Kunihar
20.   An Attri Rajput from Marwar founded the state of – Mangal
21.   Before 12th century Jubbal was the part of – Sirmaur (Sirmur) State
22.   Jubbal, Sari (Giri Basin) and Rawin ( Pabbar Basin) states were founded by Karan Chand, Mool Chand and Duni Chand. The three were the sons of – Ugra Chand
23.   Balsan and Ratesh were founded by – Alak and Rai Singh respectively
24.   Ghund, Madhan and Theog the states which are currently in Shimla were founded by three brothers hailing from the Chandel Rajput family of Jaipur. Ghund was founded by Janjian Singh and Theog by – Jai Chand
25.   The capital of Bushahr State at Kamru was shifted to Sarahan and then in the 18th century was shifted to - Rampur
